Overview

Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) was founded in September 2007, when several independent institutions has merged. ZHAW has a total of 24 Bachelor’s degree programmes and 12 consecutive Master’s programmes. About 9000 students are enrolled in different study programmes at different levels. The university also offers a broad range of continuing education courses, including over 30 Master's of Advanced Studies programmes.  Winterthur is the sixth-largest city in Switzerland with a population of over 100,000. It is only 15 minutes away from Zurich international Airport and less than 20 minutes from Zurich itself, Switzerland’s biggest city.

Study mode
Classes are 45 minutes long. They are typically held once a week for 2-4 sessions per course. Each incoming student has an individual schedule that is based on the learning agreement prepared by the student.

Preliminary semester dates
The fall semester begins in September (calendar week 38) and finishes at the end of January (calendar week 5).
The spring semester begins in February (calendar week 8) and finishes at the end of June (calendar week 26).
